Undergraduate Biology - Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana Iztapalapa (1984), MSc in Biochemistry at the Universidad Autónoma de México (1987), Ph.D. in Biological Chemistry from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro (1991), and Postdoctoral held at Yale University (1993) . I am currently an associate professor at the Institute of Medical Biochemistry, Program Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. My main interest is to study the regulation of energy metabolism in conventional and nonconventional yeast species, in order to produce bio-oil. We use various models as yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Yarrowia lipolytica, Cryptococcus neoformans and Ustilago maydis emphasizing on global analysis techniques of gene transcription and classical techniques of biochemistry. Keywords: Yeast, fermentation, bio, biodiesel, microarray, bioinformatics
